Full Job Description

Personal Assistant / Support Worker required for a 9 year old boy who lives in Haslemere.
Days and times support required:
Monday - Friday between 2pm - 8pm
Saturday between 8am - 2pm
Requires sleep-in night / waking night support.
Are you fun, bubbly and Patient?
Experience supporting (primary) aged students/children in education.
Start Date: ASAP ongoing 1-2 afternoons after school, weekend work and Holiday cover. Willing to be flexible for right candidate.
Hours: Flexible for right candidate. Saturday mornings to attend swimming lessons. Additional hours can be offered.
Family/Client Pets: Yes, Dog.
About this client/child: J is 9 years old. With an ASD diagnosis and attends a SEN school outside of Haslemere. J is currently non-verbal; he can say a few words however can communicate in his own way to a certain extent. He is a lovely giggly, cheeky and generally happy disposition most of the time. However, does get frustrated when trying to communicate.
He needs support from someone who is empathetic, consistent, and interested in him. J lives at home with his Mum and Dad and older sister (9) and attends a specialist school. We require an energetic, proactive, and engaging PA to assist J after school and one morning on the weekend. This is to attend swimming lessons or PE. PA assistance is required during school holidays - Flexibility on days and times.
Overview of role: J strives for and values his independence and we are keen to develop new skills to enable him to thrive and enjoy life safely. The PA will support J in term time to attend after school activities, prepare meals, help do Physio exercises and keep him engaged. During holidays, the PA will help him visit attractions and venues, enjoy the community, participate in current hobbies, and explore new interests.
The PA will act as J's advocate, continually promoting his independence; and helping him to access the community and activities with a positive outlook. J is non-verbal however is very aware and understanding of the world around him, and he wants to seize all opportunities!

Who would this job suit: The PA will be experienced in supporting children (ideally non-verbal), have experience with helping children to live independently and access the world around them in a fun and innovative way. Have experience with ASD, ideally in a school/care setting. Use PECS/Makaton to aid communication. This role will require a DBS check which will be paid by the employer. Have a full clean license and their own vehicle. This is a fantastic long-term role, with a supportive and caring family, offering competitive pay rates.
