As an Apprentice Junior Chef at Sodexo in Abingdon School, Park Street, Abingdon, Oxfordshire, OX14 1DE, This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a professional kitchen while working towards a nationally recognized qualification. You will work alongside our skilled chefs to prepare nutritious, high-quality meals for students, staff, and special events, learning essential skills in food preparation, kitchen management, and culinary creativity.

What you do:

Report to the Head Chef, to support the catering team in delivering the day-to-day food offer and all associated responsibilities across multiple outlets, to the highest standards as required by Sodexo and client contracts.
Be highly motivated and passionate about food - quick to learn and focused on personal development and growth.
Adhere to company procedures in regard to temperature checks, food labelling and dating, cleaning schedules and hygiene regulations at all times and ensure that all records of such are kept.
Ensure you maintain a clean, hygienic, tidy and safe work environment at all times.
Fully support the team in all areas of the kitchen and outlets as required
Ensure safe production of food within the kitchens.
Undertake training and development relevant to the role
Work on special functions which may sometimes be outside of normal working hours at evenings and weekends.

Training:
Participate in relevant training courses and apprenticeship programmes
Support and assist in the preparation and delivery of inhouse training programmes

Desirable
Experience of working in a similar custodial/secure environment
Previous experience in food handling operations
Basic food hygiene, NVQ1/2 food production or equivalent
