We are entering an exciting period of development in the ENT Dept at the Luton & Dunstable Hospital. This unit is the regional referral centre for H&N cancers and treats H&N patients from Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire. The Department of ENT is supported by 8 Consultants and their junior teams. The organisation is fully committed to improving the quality of care delivered to the community and is looking for dynamic individuals who are flexible about ways of working and keen to work as part of a multi-professional team to deliver high quality care to the local people. We would welcome applications from candidates who are motivated to lead further developments and initiatives and able to work closely with colleagues in primary care networks, community and social services. Significant investment has occurred in Department over the last years that reflects the valued contribution of the ENT service to the management of complex and vulnerable patients.

The ENT dept provides general Rhinology, Laryngology, Otology and Diagnostic Head and Neck Service and is located in a dedicated area that houses the Audiology service, which is provided by a committed team of technicians led by an Audiological scientist. There are a number of established specialist clinics including Neck Lump clinic, Joint Clinic, Voice clinic and Rhinology clinic. A specialist Otology Clinic and Balance service is being developed. There are regular Thyroid, Head & Neck and Joint OMF/ENT Xray MDT meetings.

This is a full time post and provides an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated clinician within a developing and growing service.

A wide range of ENT procedures are carried out and there are special voice, rhinitis and combined oncology clinics. There are facilities for regular journal clubs, a well-stocked library and an active postgraduate medical centre which has recently been extended to provide additional facilities.

The post-holder will be expected to cover acute clinics, assist with outpatient clinics with consultants and also theatre sessions with consultants. The post holder will be responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of emergency cases presenting at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital by GP's or the Accident and Emergency Department.

Hours of work will be 8am - 5pm each weekday plus an On Call Rota. The post holder will be part of the first on call rota (1:8 week of nights). The post-holder will be expected to carry out clinical audits and participate in research and publications.

All applicants will be required to demonstrate a working knowledge of the English language.

Our Trust provides hospital services to a growing population of around 700,000 people living across Bedfordshire and the surrounding areas across two busy hospital sites in Bedford and Luton. Travel between hospital sites may be required.

We have state-of-the art facilities placing us at the heart of cutting edge health care. The Trust continues to be committed to delivering the best patient care using the best clinical knowledge and technology available.

As part of our continued response to COVID19 the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014 ("the 2014 Regulations") was updated and approved by Parliament. This meant that full COVID19 vaccination would become a condition of employment in all NHS roles which have face-to-face contact with patients and service users from 1 April 2022 unless exempt.

The Government subsequently announced that, given the changes to the Omicron variant, they believe it is no longer proportionate to mandate COVID-19 vaccinations for NHS staff. The Government's decision is subject to Parliamentary process. This will require further consultation and a Parliamentary vote to be passed into legislation.

As this role is within scope of the current legislation COVID19 vaccination status will remain part of our routine Occupational Health check.

Vaccination is the best way to protect yourself, your family, your colleagues and your patients from the virus. If you're still unsure, you can find lots of information
