Full Job Description

Acute Internal Medicine (AIM) at GSTT is instrumental to the Trust's delivery of acute medical care of the highest quality, with an expanding and innovative team who provide expert assessment and management of acute medical patients and those presenting with medical emergencies from the full range of medical subspecialties.

The post-holder will rotate through the Acute Admissions Ward (AAW), the Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) and Ambulatory Emergency Care (AEC) Unit, and potentially the Acute Medicine Hot Clinic. They will gain invaluable experience as a clinical decision maker in the acute medical setting, in a supported training and learning environment with robust consultant and registrar presence, whilst having opportunity to develop and consolidate hands-on practical procedural skills and specialist interests if desired. AIM provides exposure to some of the highest acuity in medical patients at the hospital. We are also currently exploring the development of an acute higher dependency enhanced care medical model on the ward.

For successful applicants, there is an option to incorporate and/or develop an area of Specialist Interest within the existing timetable, with time specially allocated to this and embedded in the existing rota, and a wide range of specialities available in this prestigious tertiary centre. The specialist interest component of the post will be agreed after successful appointment.
