Full Job Description

This dynamic, stimulating and pluripotent clinical post offers outstanding experience in Acute Internal Medicine and General Medicine, in a prestigious unit that enjoys an excellent friendly working atmosphere, in a world-class academic teaching hospital. The Acute Internal Medicine (AIM) team at GSTT is instrumental to the Trusts delivery of acute medical care of the highest quality, with an expanding and innovative team who provide expert assessment and management of acutely unwell medical patients and those presenting with medical emergencies from the full range of medical subspecialties. The AIM Physicians at GSTT have a pivotal role in the medical acute-care interface between AAW, Acute Medicine SDEC, the Emergency Department and Local Community Services. They actively support the acute medical take working with a wide range of physicians who contribute to General Medicine at GSTT. This post would be ideal for an individual who enjoys Acute Medicine, is aiming towards MRCP and
core/higher training in Internal Medicine with any of the core medical subspecialties, looking to add depth to their acute and generalist skills, develop their senior decision-making and hands-on practical skills within a supported training environment, and hone other specialist skills if desired. It would also be highly valuable for those considering General Practice or Emergency Medicine. In addition, it would be ideal in providing a suitably broad and progressive platform to those who are unsure of their higher medical training options at this stage, and would like to add depth to their CV and explore these further. The Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) and AEC unit covers all the medical components of the national AEC network directory, based on NHS Improvement, RCP, SAM and RCEM guidance, as well as the NHSE/London SDEC Gold Standard pathways. Referrals are accepted from ED, GPs, LAS 111 & 999 services, as well as from inpatient wards, outpatient clinics and the Radiology & ECG
departments. The unit is staffed with a consultant, junior doctor team and multidisciplinary team to ensure full support, and its opening hours are 8am-8pm.
