Applications are invited for one full-time junior clinical fellow in Haematology (ST2-ST3) at The Hillingdon Hospital Foundation trust or the period of 6 months.

The post is an ideal opportunity for someone interested in pursuing a career in haematology. Successful applicants will gain experience in managing inpatient and outpatient care and the management of acute haematological emergencies. Although these posts do not have HEE support for specialist training, there are exciting educational opportunities, including involvement in clinical trials research, audit, appraisal, and provisions for study leave to be taken. We also have an active local teaching program including morphology teaching and curriculum-based teaching.

We look forward to support your haematology career in friendly and forward-thinking environment., The successful candidate will join the existing haematology team at Hillingdon hospital, which currently consist of, five haematology consultants, three specialist registrars, one FY1, three specialist nurses, and one transfusion practitioner

The department has a very strong reputation for providing a high quality, patient-centred clinical and laboratory services. We are particularly active in clinical research with a broad portfolio of clinical trials including NCRI and commercial trials. Haematology department received consistently higher rating in GMC training survey including highest national score in 2017. Previous successful post holders obtained haematology national training number within 12 months of employment

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust delivers a full range of acute hospital services to the 300,000 population of the Hillingdon District. The Hospital caters for a population that includes a significant immigrant population, partly owing to the fact that the district includes Heathrow Airport, and an expanding Harmondsworth Detention Centre.

The Trust employs over 2000 staff across two main sites, The Hillingdon Hospital in Uxbridge, and Mount Vernon Hospital in Northwood. The Trust has an annual budget of £238 million, and has a capacity of 419 beds. All emergency admissions come to The Hillingdon Hospital, predominantlythrough the Hillingdon A&E Department. This hospital currently admits about 50,000 patients per annum.

It has a busy and recently re-developed Accident and Emergency Department, which deals with approximately 90,000 Accident & Emergency attendances each year. There is also a new Coronary Care Unit, an Intensive Care / High Dependency Unit with eleven beds and dialysis facilities, a specialist unit for care and rehabilitation of victims from stroke, and specialist units - including, for example, Diabetecare, Endocrinology, and Respiratory Medicine Specialists.
