Full Job Description

These duties will be performed with relation to duty rota and explanatory notes will include:-
Examination and clerking of patients records.Maintenance of in-patient records including discharge summary to General Practitioners prior to patient's discharge from Hospital.
Completion of request forms for routine investigations. Provision of statutory certificates.
Prescription of drugs and treatment as required under senior medical care.
Visits as required to all patients allotted to care.
Assisting Consultant or Registrar routine operating sessions. Preparing operation lists on the day prior to surgery and preparing patients for surgery.
Attendance at regular ward rounds of Consultants or Registrar and at the outpatient clinic at the Consultants discretion.
Attendance at weekly conference and presentation of patients as required.
Ensures that all Hospital wide standards are maintained and monitored to improve the quality of total care to all who come in contact with services provided by the University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire NHS Trust.
Liaison with the duty registrar regarding all patients requiring admission or general anaesthetic.
Supervision and treatment of patients on Intensive Care Unit if required.
Assisting the Registrar or Senior Medical Staff with emergency operations.
On call duty.
One in eight on call (ENT and Head & Neck) Full shift rota attracting additional enhancements.
Improving and complying with infection control practices.

The role will include supporting all aspects of care management for ENT patients, through ward round, pre-op and post-op follow up, weekly clinics, audits and supporting senior clinicians in theatres.
The Department currently has 3 specialist training registrars from the West Midlands Rotation. The Trust intends to enhance the academic position of the Otolaryngology unit and at the same time wishes to provide high quality post fellowship clinical cover for the Otolaryngology and Head and Neck services., UHCW NHS Trust, by virtue of its Green Plan, is committed to ensuring that the way we provide services minimises the impact on the environment and the future health of the public e.g. zero waste to landfill, reducing our carbon footprint and increasing our recycling and reuse percentages.
