Full Job Description
The appointee's principal duties will be based in the Department of Transplantation and dialysis Access Surgery at UHCW and will include inpatient care, outpatient clinics, and surgical lists. The post will suit applicants who wish to gain experience in Renal Transplantation, Vascular Access, and General Surgery. Participation in an on call rota is not essential but can be discussed if desired for personal development (either General or Transplant/Vascular Surgery dependent on experience). The post will initially be for 12 months with the opportunity to extend for 2 years.
You will be expected to assist with providing transplantation and vascular access services including both emergency and elective work. The unit performs an average of 70 renal transplant and 300 dialysis access procedures per year. We have a large live donor transplant programme that is growing and includes HLA and ABO incompatible transplantation., To assist with the comprehensive management of a complete range of transplant and vascular access services at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust.
To participate in daily ward rounds, elective and emergency theatre sessions, outpatient
clinics, MDT and specialty clinics
Participate in Transplant Unit meetings and activities
Demonstrate a commitment to working as a team member with medical, nursing
and other staff to provide efficient, safe, and quality care
Participate in the auditing and review of clinical practices to improve clinical outcomes
Support departmental research develop research interest if appropriate
Participate in Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and allied health professional teaching
Take on-going responsibility for patients under care of your consultants
Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with Medical and Surgical colleagues in other
Specialties
Take responsibility for Clinical Professional Development and ensuring practice is up to date
Share responsibility for data protection arising out of the use of computers
Comply with all relevant Trust Policies and Procedures
