Full Job Description

The successful applicant will gain valuable experience in all aspects of spinal surgery and there is an active research programme in place including basic science laboratory facilities. The ULHB is associated with Cardiff University and excellent postgraduate facilities are available. The Post Holder will be expected to work at specialty Registrar level and will participate in the Spinal Fellow on call rota. The post is not educationally approved and will therefore not attract a National Training Number.

Essential

  • MRCS or equivalent
  • Training in Radiation Protection or agreement to attend next available course
  • Desirable
  • ATLS Provider
  • Academic Excellence, Prizes, distinctions etc
  • MSc or PHD
  • PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE Essential
  • 12 months postgraduate experience in Orthopaedics or Neurosurgery (Core Trainee or equivalent)
  • Desirable
  • 6 months experience in spinal surgery orthopaedic or neurosurgery, Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues
  • Up to date with current medical practices
  • Ability to perform basic spinal surgical procedures under supervision
