Full Job Description

In a key legal role within the Business and Legal Affairs Team (BALA), the Junior Contracts Manager is responsible for drafting and negotiating contracts for licensing deals and ensuring a fast, efficient, and consistent turnaround time for the department's Consumer Products contracts. This role works across all international territories whilst always providing the business with a high level of professional service. You will also provide other support to BALA Managers, Legal Counsels, Vice President, and Senior Vice President as/when required. What will you be doing?

  • Managing, drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and other legal correspondence for licensing deals (for example merchandise, digital, publishing, and promotions) for business groups across the international region for the Legal Counsel's (or other senior team members) review and approval
  • Managing own deals and matters ensuring efficient deal turnaround times
  • Maintaining templates and suggesting updates for senior team members' review and approval
  • Assisting with admin tasks including but not limited to research, counterfeit sightings, debt collection, customs letters, due diligence, and litigation matters
  • Maintaining relationships with internal stakeholders, external agents, and licensees
  • Maintaining and circulating BALA reports as required
  • Collaborating and assisting other Junior Contracts Managers as well as assisting VP and SVP of BALA on special projects as/when instructed
  • Any other legal correspondence and task as required

    Paralegal experience preferred
  • Law degree desirable but not essential as we will consider applicants with relevant experience (Media Industry preferred)
  • Experience working in-house preferred but will consider applicants from private practice backgrounds that have had experience managing their caseload and dealing directly with clients
  • Confident and proven drafting skills (including free drafting) and negotiating a variety of agreements and amendments
  • Ability to manage own caseload (e.g 40-80 deals at any time)
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills
  • Ability to track and look after their workload and report to management regularly regarding the status of a deal
  • Accuracy and speed to ensure fast and efficient turnaround times
  • Experience working under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to work well with other team members, other internal departments, agents, and licensees
  • Willing and able to assist other team members with drafting contracts/amendments as/when required
