Full Job Description

The Junior Fellows are primarily involved in the daily management of intensive care (GICU) patients and surgical high dependency patients (SHDU). Attendance at ward rounds is expected. Routine work is shared among all junior medical staff. Trainees will be expected to have or be willing to acquire skills such as central venous insertion (CVC) and arterial cannulation. More complex procedures may be undertaken if progress allows. Fellows will be expected to gain adequate knowledge and experience in all organ support measures. Attention to record keeping must be meticulous. It is expected that clinical handover to colleagues must be methodological and inclusive of all body systems.

The successful candidates will join a large, dynamic critical care team in providing a high-quality clinical care for our patients. These posts are for 6 months initially, extendable to a year depending on the fellow's progression. Previous critical care experience is desired but not essential. Applicants from all acute specialities including anaesthetics, medical, emergency medicine or surgical backgrounds will be considered. The post will provide training and experience in all aspects of intensive care medicine in a large multidisciplinary unit.
