Full Job Description

The roles of this post will include:
+ Review of patients during the day and overnight
+ Taking bloods when needed
+ Attendance at daily Consultant ward rounds
+ Management and escalation of deteriorating patients
+ Admission of patients from recovery and General Intensive Care

We are looking for a motivated candidate for the role of Junior Fellow in Surgical Critical Care. The post will provide training and experience in critical care medicine at a large tertiary teaching hospital and is aimed at resident doctors who wish to advance their careers and expand their skills in anaesthesia, perioperative, and intensive care medicine., Preference will be given to those who have previous experience in Intensive Care Medicine and/or Anaesthesia., We are looking for a motivated individual who is enthusiastic about caring for patients in a surgical critical care environment. The applicants should ideally have:
+ Previous experience in an acute speciality
+ Previous intensive care experience within the NHS
+ Surgical critical care experience within the NHS

The surgical critical care unit at University Hospital Southampton is a ten-bedded level two unit admitting approximately 1500 major surgical patients each year. The unit is over-seen by a team of 21 intensive care consultants.
Alongside clinical duties there will be opportunities to participate in departmental simulation, spend time working on the General Intensive Care Unit (a major trauma centre), and engage in audit and quality improvement projects. There is a twice weekly teaching programme and opportunities to engage in local and national research projects., As one of the largest acute teaching Trusts in England, we offer learning and development opportunities to help you achieve the career you aspire to.
