Full Job Description

As a Junior Information Security Officer, your key responsibilities will include supporting the implementation of security awareness programs, assisting in the creation of training materials, and promoting Information Security best practices across the organisation along with staying updated on emerging security threats.

Your role will also involve collaborating with various teams, either virtually or in person, to ensure that essential messages are clearly communicated and understood by all staff. You may also be required to travel for campaigns and other job related events across the UK and internationally, when needed.

You'll bring fresh ideas to the table, helping to create clear, compelling communications that resonate with our audience. Whether it's writing captivating messages through our social channels or designing eye-catching materials, you'll play a key role in making sure our communications are not only informative but also fun and engaging.

We focus on hiring for potential at the BBC, so the main requirement for the position is a creative mindset and a flair for design and copywriting. Our ideal applicant would display the following attributes:

  • Flair for social media, with demonstrable experience of creating engaging and imaginative content.

  • Keen interest in, and knowledge of, the latest trends/news in cyber security and technology.

  • Creative graphic design skills and mastery of Microsoft and Adobe tools, or equivalent.

  • Ability to translate technical jargon into engaging communications.

  • Comfortable with public speaking, and with engaging with external/internal stakeholders.

A career with Information Security at the BBC offers a unique experience to support the organisation in its mission to inform, educate and entertain. You'll be no stranger to assisting on large scale events such as the King's Coronation and Eurovision, as well as helping our colleagues understand how to work securely in offices, on-set, and from high-risk areas across the globe. The BBC are committed to becoming the world's first global, digital public service media organisation, with a creative, innovative culture admired worldwide, where the best people do their best work. It really is a great time to join us.

  • We're looking for an Information Security Junior Officer to join the Awareness team. You'll be an inquisitive, passionate, and professional person, possessing a creative mindset and an eagerness to develop your technical skills. A flair with words, and a talent for graphic design will make you well-equipped to design and deliver effective information security awareness campaigns and communications, which translate technical advice into everyday guidance to ensure colleagues can work safely whoever and wherever they are.

You will be a whizz on social media, and a well of ideas, with a distinct voice that you'll be able to adapt to appeal to staff across the BBC via our internal communications channels. Someone that enjoys workshopping ideas with their team, following trends in metrics, and really getting to know their audience, in order to produce engaging, practical advice that you're confident to present to staff when necessary. It's vital to have a love for bringing stories to life, to illustrate why working securely is so important.

It's an exciting time to join the team, with truly rewarding work, and you'll be supported with a continuous personal development plan, including the opportunity of relevant further training., The BBC is committed to redeploying employees seeking suitable alternative employment within the BBC for different reasons and they will be given priority consideration ahead of other applicants. Priority consideration means for those employees seeking redeployment their application will be considered alongside anyone else at risk of redundancy, prior to any individuals being considered who are not at risk.
