Full Job Description

Co-ordinate/facilitate educational activities for registered and non-registered HCP's within the paediatric setting under the supervision of the Lead Paediatric Practice Educator
Work with the Matron and Ward Sisters to improve the patient experience and care standards on the wards/clinical areas.
Actively participate in national and corporate projects for example the QIPP agenda, Energising for Excellence work streams, Saving Lives Campaign, Productivity agenda.
Demonstrate a commitment towards the development of professional and clinical practice (self and others)
Work collaboratively as a member of the Practice Educator's Forum., Work with the Clinical Educator to create an environment which values education as part of the philosophy of the practice area.
With the support of the Matron for Inpatient Paediatrics, Lead Paediatric Practice Educator and Nurse Consultant for Acute Paediatrics, develop an education programme for newly qualified staff that builds on the Trust Preceptorship Programme
Undertake clinical care of patients as and when required
Be responsive to changing needs within the practice area in relation to local and national strategic requirements.
To work alongside clinical staff to assess educational/development needs in order to maintain a capable and effective workforce.
To act as part of a support network for the implementation of preceptorship for newly qualified staff nurses.
Maintain training records locally and corporately (electronic staff records) as required.
Assist in the recruitment and retention of staff, working alongside the senior sister, matron and human resources department.

Explore and implement strategies for quality assurance and audit.
Disseminate audit results and facilitate implementation of plan, benchmarking.
Participate in Paediatric Unit meetings. Meet monthly with the Lead Paediatric Practice Educator and Nurse Consultant for Acute Paediatrics / Matron to discuss individual needs of staff.
Contribute to the identification, management and reporting of incidents, near misses and other risk management issues.
