Full Job Description

The department is supported by a Practice Development Nurses devoted to the development of the nursing team. You will join a dedicated team of experienced and motivated paediatric nurses, PEM consultant and a Paediatric Consultants available at peak times. Our Emergency Department offers an educationally focused environment that allows nurses to professionally grow and develop a vast repertoire of clinical skills and theoretical knowledge. To ensure this we have strong links with local Universities and regional specialist centres who are committed to delivering work-based educational initiatives. We have a structured pathway leading to both your professional and career development. Training for this role will include triage, minor injuries, paediatric intermediate life support, red dot x-ray interpretation and ordering of x-rays, trauma, mental health study day, Paediatric ED course, patient group directives, we provide monthly simulation insitu or based in our dedicated simulation centre, bit size weekly teaching and monthly well-being and mindful sessions. We have very strong nursing leadership and can offer support from our substantial senior team, which includes our Paediatric and ED Matrons and Emergency Nurse Practitioners. Are you a highly motivated, dynamic and flexible Registered Children's Nurse ready to join our Paediatric Emergency Department? We have opportunities for full-time and part-time Sisters / Charge Nurses within the Children's Emergency Department. We are a progressive and dynamic team looking to expand our staff numbers. You will have significant experience in an acute paediatric nursing or A&E setting. Ideally you will have completed an emergency care qualification, EPALS and will be able to provide evidence of professional development, shift management, and staff development.,

  • Registered Nurse (Child) with Nursing & Midwifery Council
  • Mentorship Qualification
  • Relevant specialist course or equivalent experience
  • Experience of leading shifts in the Emergency or Acute Paediatric Department
  • Desirable criteria Graduate,
  • Extensive experience within acute Paediatric speciality
  • Knowledge of quality, standard setting, benchmarking and audit
  • Knowledge of NMC Code of Professional Conduct
