Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Sister on Fortuneswell Ward, our 17 bedded in-patient wardspecialising in the care of adults with cancer and haematological disease, alongside general medical patients. The ward commonly manages patients who are admitted with acute problems relating to their cancer or its treatment and palliative patients with complex symptom issues. As a Deputy Sister you will also support the Ward Leader and the wider nursing team with operational running of the ward.

We are looking for a Deputy Sister, who is motivated, forward thinking and enthusiastic to support the Nursing team on the ward in giving the best care for our patients.

The successful candidate will assist in leading the nursing team to maintain the efficient running of the ward. They will be responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care without supervision. They will be required to deputise for the Ward Leader as and when required.

You must be able to work shifts and be flexible to meet the needs of the service. You must possess excellent communication skills and will ideally be competent at venepuncture and cannulation but not essential.
