Full Job Description

This role is for an enthusiastic Junior Sister/Junior Charge Nurse to take on a new experience into the world of Ambulatory Services.

This Ambulatory Unit comprises of 6 beds; 5 beds in a bay and 1 cubicle. The unit is set out to host patients from 24 - 48 hours. As a Junior Sister/Junior Charge Nurse on the Short Stay Unit you will have to opportunity to work on a nurse led unit as well as carrying out nurse led discharges.

You will gain experience in other areas carrying out assessments such as auscultation, whilst working closely with members of the multi disciplinary teams. Being part of the team will give you the chance to think of and create innovative ideas to help develop and evolve the services that we provide., As a Junior Sister/Junior Charge Nurse, you will be expected to lead the team that you are on shift with, this will include having the ability to liaise and communicate well with the the patient/carers and members of the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT).

You will be expected to be able to predict and prepare for a discharge on the unit as well as implementing a nurse led discharge. You will be expected to have an understanding of ambulatory care and what expectations of an ambulatory service like this will deliver.

You will be expected to work closely with other out-reach services ensuring that the care provided from Hospital to home is a smooth transition. A speedy and precise turn over of beds will be expected from you as a Junior Sister/ Junior Charge Nurse as well as ensuring the we are delivering a high standard of care to the patients.
