Full Job Description

The role of the Junior Social Editor UK is to assist in creating engaging and effective social media content using the on-site editorial produced by our teams.

You will be responsible for the hands-on creation of content for our London and Travel social channels, and the voice and face of our Time Out's accounts.

A large part of your day will be devoted to video journalism - researching stories, creating scripts and presenting these on-camera for Instagram and TikTok.

You will also be experienced in scheduling and captioning content, as well as reviewing its performance against KPIs.

The successful candidate will be able to work to tight deadlines, turning around news stories as they break and hopping on trends quickly whilst maintaining Time Out's tone of voice and strategy.,

  • Help maintain the content calendar across all UK social platforms

  • Work closely with the editorial team to break local London and global travel news

  • Pitch daily news and video stories to the Editorial Team based on social listening

  • Create assets by packaging digital features into social-friendly formats

  • Pitch, shoot and edit social-first video content

  • Act as on-camera presenter for explainer videos and become the familiar 'face of' Time Out's London and Travel social accounts

  • Pay close attention to trending topics and sounds, as well as what stories might be good for in-platform SEO

  • Assist in Digital Cover projects alongside the editorial and creative teams

    The successful candidate will be focused on quality and innovation, with a head for process and impeccable attention to detail, plus excellent communication and interpersonal skills., 3+ years of experience in a similar role and industry



  • Working knowledge of Premiere Pro, Capcut and Canva or similar

  • Excellent understanding of social and video journalism and general internet culture

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills

  • Proven track record of growing audiences and meeting targets

  • Outstanding written communication and interpersonal skills

  • Degree-level education, especially in communications, public relations, or English, is preferred but not essential
    Primary KPI's: Social reach, video views and engagement (specifically comments, shares and saves).,
  • Be commercially astute

  • Either have experience at or want to dive headfirst into a fast-paced transformative company in pursuit of excellence
