Full Job Description

As a Software Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining applications and integrations across a range of platforms, including Salesforce and Azure. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Solution owners, Application managers and Solution architects to analyse requirements, architect solutions, and deliver high-quality software that meets business needs.

This role will be located at our Cobalt office in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

Responsibilities:

Develop IT Solutions:

  • Utilise Python and related libraries, frameworks, and tools to build AI solutions.

  • Design, build, and implement efficient, scalable pipelines for data acquisition, storage, and processing using technologies like Pandas, NumPy, or Spark.

  • Utilize Agile and DevOps practices to design, develop, and deliver AI/IT solutions that meet business needs.

  • Develop strong development capabilities across multiple platforms, including MS Azure, Salesforce, and Web technologies.


  • Understand Business Value:
  • Gain a deep understanding of the business value that IT solutions deliver.

  • Translate business requirements into clear and comprehensive technical/functional requirements.

  • Ensure that the IT solutions align with business objectives.


  • Continuous Improvement and Innovation:
  • Proactively identify opportunities to enhance DevOps processes and practices.

  • Explore automation tools, new technologies, and development platforms to improve efficiency, productivity and quality.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve collaboration, communication, and integration between development and operations.

  • Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to identify innovative solutions.

  • Completed Bachelor's or Master's degree in an IT discipline or will graduate in summer 2024.

  • Solid interest/understanding of software development principles, design patterns, and best practices. E.g. Object Oriented Programming, algorithms, frameworks.

  • Strong proficiency in Python programming and experience with AI/Machine Learning libraries and frameworks. (E.g. NLP, Computer Vision, predictive analytics, or recommendation systems).

  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages relevant to the job requirements, such as Python, Java, C++, JavaScript, Ruby, or PHP. The ability to write clean, efficient, and maintainable code is crucial.

  • Proficiency in using version control systems like Git, Subversion, or Mercurial to manage code repositories, track changes, and collaborate with other developers. Understanding branching, merging, and resolving conflicts is essential.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to quickly identify and resolve technical issues.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Evidence of passion and achievements in academic and/or non-academic activities.


  • Preferred
  • Experience with Salesforce Lightning Experience and Lightning Web Components.

  • Knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js).

  • Familiarity with source control systems, such as Git.

  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools like Jira.

  • Strong Knowledge of Salesforce platform, including Apex, Visualforce, Lightning Components, and declarative features like Process Builder, Flows, and Validation Rules.

  • Experience with Salesforce integration patterns and technologies, such as REST/SOAP APIs, Platform Events, and Salesforce Connect.

  • Proficiency in Salesforce data modelling, database concepts, and Salesforce security models.
