Full Job Description

This is an exciting post that offers significant opportunities for professional development. We support post-graduate education modules/higher qualifications within your study leave entitlement and also offer mentoring and training to help you develop your general and specialist clinical skills. Additionally, you will have professional development and supervision by a substantive consultant on a daily basis to assist your clinical practice and are encouraged to attend departmental teaching sessions.
Appointees will have the opportunity to work in a variety of medical specialties within the trust during the term of the post. We would consider the specific interests of the applicant where appropriate and could offer placements in the following:

  • Cardiology

  • Care of the Elderly

  • Diabetes & Endocrinology

  • Acute Medicine

  • Gastroenterology

  • Haematology

  • Respiratory Medical

  • Rheumatology, This is a primarily ward-based position working a standard 40-hr week. Participating in the general medical on call rota at registrar level is expected and remunerated with the appropriate enhancement to pay. You will be expected to lead ward rounds, contribute to the running of Ambulatory Emergency care services, Same day emergency care services, general medical outpatient care and contribute to the development of junior colleagues.

  • Post holders would also have the opportunity to work with the medical school's Clinical Fellow cohort to help deliver teaching to undergraduate medical students, 1) To support the in-patient and out-patient services in the Emergency Division at Warwick Hospital and to provide senior support and guidance to the junior medical team
    2) Research, Education, Audit and Continuing Professional Development
    a. To take responsibility for continuing professional education in accordance with guidelines set out by the appropriate college/faculty/professional body.
    b. To initiate and participate in research and audit programmes in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
    c. To work in collaboration with colleagues in developing skills to provide new ways of working across different professions, organisations i.e. community/primary care.
    3) Clinical Governance
    a. In conjunction with Consultant colleagues, to ensure that the requirements of clinical governance are met.
    4) General elements:
    a. To participate in clinical and other service activities with the object of ensuring a high standard of patient care.
    b. To be able to work flexibly, and cross cover for colleagues.
    c. To observe the Trust's agreed policies and procedures
    d. To take responsibility for your own health and safety complying with any safe working arrangements, policies and procedures which are in place.
    e. To accept a duty to other staff and patients to ensure that any hazards are reported and managed appropriately.

    The appointment will be full-time and will be based at Warwick Hospital.
    The appointee will be given a base specialty and ward however on occasion may be asked to work elsewhere within Medicine to ensure that safe staffing levels are maintained, Sometimes we get a lot of applications for our roles.     Probationary Period
    All new staff to the Trust will be subject to a standard 6 month probationary period, the details of which will duly follow in your contract of employment.
