Reporting to the Technical Solutions Manager within our Highways Division, you will be tasked with leading on the network design, connectivity, and build. (Juniper and Cisco)
What you'll do:
- To work within a customer facing project team to deliver and support network application solutions for business transition, transformation, and business as usual activities.
- Develop technical specifications and design network architecture documentation.
- Undertake network and application configuration.
- Managing the devices, system, integration testing, test new product releases and upgrades
- Providing support on Management applications and generate reports.
- Liaise with vendors where necessary and apply or oversee relevant updates and patches.
- Monitor performance and efficiency of the network and instigate modifications and improvements where necessary.
- Selecting the appropriate materials for a new product or a new construction
- Build and support a fully automated Juniper IP network, peering, managed firewall solutions.
- Evaluate customer solutions for performance, scalability, and security; providing recommendations on network configurations and topologies to improve operational performance and identify/mitigate major risk areas.
- Provide technical expertise and proactive technical services to optimise network reliability and performance.
- Provide the required Management Information & regular management updates
- Qualitative Input into the appropriate database/s to track and manage standard and bespoke processes.
- Obtaining appropriate documentation in connection with the customer's request, as per the defined processes.
- Attendance at Customer, supplier and Team meetings as required.

From a networking or data centre open environment background with previous experience of network design, managing firewalls, applying policies, and checking the management of the systems.
Key requirements:
- Technical Skills -ISIS, MPLS, RSVP-TE, LDP, MP-BGP, Multicast, NG-MVPN, EVPN, ERPS, STP.
- Juniper JNCIS-SEC and JNCIS-ENT certifications (will consider experience in place of certs)
- Juniper - Extensive experience with configuring and maintaining core Juniper MX series routers EX switches and SRX firewalls
- Ideally good working knowledge of Juniper SPACE, Security/Network Director, and scripting.
- Working knowledge of Juniper secure connect and AAA.
- Cisco - Switches, routers and firewalls
- Cisco - CCNA
- A passion for solving problems and providing workable solutions.
- Strong analytical and reasoning skills with an ability to visualise processes and outcomes.
