Full Job Description

We are currently looking for a Key Account Manager , this is senior commercial role within our business and responsible for managing key relationships with our valued customer base. There is no preference on base location, however a base located around Manchester, Leeds or Birmingham conurbations would be well placed for travel. The role requires time based at customer head offices and construction sites located across the U.K. as well as Tarmac office locations when required. Role Responsibility As the successful Key Account Manager , you will report to the Commercial Director and will be responsible for the strategic management of a defined set of accounts maintaining price, volume & profit for these key and strategic accounts based across the UK. You will provide dedicated customer account management to your Key Account customer group. This is a senior role within our commercial function. On a day-to-day basis, duties and responsibilities of the Key Account Manager will include (not exhaustive) :

  • Working closely with the wider external and internal commercial team to ensure that account requirements are understood and delivered in line with SLAs agreed with the customer
  • Utilising skills and tools cascaded from the Commercial Excellence initiatives delivered from the National team or identified from within the BU
  • Proactively ensuring that Tarmac's presence is known not just at group level but across all the regions we serve
  • Providing key hands-on support on site and being comfortable with the technical nature of our product group and crucially be informed of any changes of technical standards
  • Ability to seek out and win new business where required as part of overall delivery of the commercial strategy (volume & price)
  • Implementing an Account Portfolio strategy including strategy for group relationships and regional relationships for each of our Key Accounts
  • Delivering financial targets as set by the BU and Regional management, ensuring Key Accounts are performing to their requested annual volumes
  • Supporting the wider commercial team with delivery of their strategic targets e.g. cross selling, upselling, value add opportunities
  • Ensuring customer portfolio satisfaction measures are constantly exceeded with a particular emphasis on quality and customer first methodology
  • The ability to shape and influence key decision makers and be able to interpret information and present business cases.
  • A strong negotiator and influence

    The ideal Key Account Manager will be someone who has relevant experience, preferably within the brick and block category or wider housebuilding product / service supply. You will have a proven track record of being able to add demonstrable value and can manage and develop high value, multi-site customer accounts. You will be targeting a move to an organisation that offers progression and development opportunities and be driven to succeed.
  • Furthermore, if you have commercial understanding of our business, customer base and markets and can work cross-functionally to deliver customer solutions utilising that of our Aggregate block business, this would be beneficial in your application.
