Full Job Description

Terms of contract: Permanent

Grade: Scale 1-3 depending on experience

Line Manager: Head Chef & School Business Manager

Hours: 25 Hours - Monday to Friday (Term time only) + 4 Inset days

Responsible for

Assisting in the successful running of the kitchen unit; assisting in the control of food waste;

high standards of food preparation, cooking and presentation; high standards of hygiene,

health and safety and cleanliness of the unit under the guidance of the Catering Manager.

FOOD SERVICE AND PREPARATION

  • To ensure the highest standards of food and beverage production, cooking and presentation at all times, in accordance with the school expectations.

  • If required, assist with the creation of innovative and exciting menus which appeal to the appropriate audiences whilst staying within budgetary guidelines.


  • CUSTOMER RELATIONS
  • During food service, conduct yourself with a friendly, professional attitude when dealing with the pupils, staff and visitors at all times.

  • Actively listen to and pass on to the Catering Manager any feedback from pupils, staff and visitors to continually improve the service.


  • HYGIENE
  • Ensure all areas of the unit for which you are responsible, are maintained at the highest level of hygiene, tidiness and general appearance, including equipment and all facilities.

  • Ensure all items of equipment and utensils used are scrupulously maintained and the

  • cleaning rotas are followed at all times.


  • HEALTH AND SAFETY
  • Ensure safe working practices are carried out and action taken to correct any faults that could result in an accident.

  • Ensure that you are aware of the COSHH regulations and abide by them at all times.

  • Attend health and safety training as and when require.


  • OTHER DUTIES
  • Carry out any other reasonable requests from the Catering Manager or member of SLT.
