Full Job Description
As a Kitchen Assistant in the hotel, you will work as part of a kitchen team to prepare and cook a range of dishes to menu specifications. You will assist senior chefs with food preparation and ensure that all food is prepared and served to a high standard of quality and presentation. You will also maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen and food preparation areas, follow all food safety and health regulations, and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. What do we need from you?
- Knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques, and a willingness to continually develop culinary skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and follow instructions from senior chefs.
- Ensuring the cleanliness and tidiness of the kitchen and its surrounding areas
- Cleaning and sanitising all kitchen equipment and utensils
- Disposing of waste and rubbish in a safe and hygienic manner
- Ensuring all deliveries are received and stored correctly
- Assisting the chefs and kitchen staff with basic food preparation tasks
- Operating and maintaining dishwashing machines, and alerting any faults to your line manager and hotel maintenance team.
- Ensuring that the kitchen is compliant with health and safety regulations
- Adhering to the hotel's policies and procedures at all times
- A commitment to maintaining a clean and hygienic kitchen environment, including adherence to food safety regulations and proper use of kitchen equipment and cleaning products.
Good communication skills, willingness to work as part of a team, and ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. Based in the Holiday Inn Darlington North A1M, Jct 59. you will be part of a team of passionate people who know that being the best doesn't always mean working around the clock.
