  • The University Hospitality Department provides catering to students, staff and external customers throughout the academic year and during the summer months. There are numerous outlets run by the Hospitality Department offering a range of food and drink options. We have a vacancy for general Porter in in the hospitality department. This role will be supporting the food outlets in the west of campus. As a Kitchen Porter you will be responsible for delivering and receiving stock, maintaining excellent hygiene standards, operating dishwashers and carrying out daily cleaning of kitchen equipment, cutlery and crockery as well as setting up tables and furniture. The successful candidate should work well within a team and have experience of working in a kitchen porter/general porter role and providing an excellent standard of customer service.

    During term time the role is mainly Mon-Fri with occasional weekend requirements. During the summer there is an increased requirement for weekend and late evening shifts to be covered on a 5 out of 7 days per week contract (36.5 hours per week). The weekly shift pattern consists of straight shifts only, no split shifts. Training and uniform are provided, and there are opportunities to develop in the role and seek promotion into supervisory roles.
