Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has emerged within the Kent PRU and Attendance Service (KPAS) to recruit an Exclusion Intervention Adviser with the drive and motivation to make a difference to the lives of children and young people in Kent.

Working in partnership with schools, Pupil Referral Units (PRUs) and colleagues in the local authority, as well as external partners, our aim is to ensure all children and young people are engaged, thrive and achieve their potential through education by improving attendance at school and reducing exclusion.

As an Exclusion Intervention Adviser, you will provide specialist advice and guidance to school leaders, governing boards, parents and multi-agency partners around the statutory requirements relating to attendance and exclusions as set out in the guidance published by the Department for Education.

You will require strong organisational and planning skills, thorough attention to detail and a secure knowledge of the legal framework within which the Kent PRU and Attendance Service operates. It is particularly important to be able to balance providing support with appropriate professional challenge in complex situations.

This role is subject to holding a Full UK Driving Licence - The Council is committed to making reasonable adjustments so whilst this job requires the jobholder to drive your application will still be considered if you are unable to drive due to a disability.

The successful candidate will be able to travel across a wide geographical area, including Gravesham, Dartford and Sevenoaks districts at various times of day in a timely and flexible manner and, on occasion, outside of core business hours.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

Work that works for you and us - let's talk flexibility!

KCC is committed to building a workforce which reflects the diversity of the county's working residents, encouraging applications from people of all ages, abilities, genders, sexual orientations, ethnic backgrounds, faiths and those with caring responsibilities, and aspires to create an inclusive workplace where everyone can be themselves at work.

Please note - if you are interested, please apply as soon as possible as the closing date for this advert may be earlier than stated should a number of suitably qualified candidates apply.
