Full Job Description

St. John's is a very happy, successful and popular school, operating over two sites and situated at the top of Whiteladies Road close to The Downs. We have high levels of staff retention but due to a teacher maternity and relocation, we are in the rare position of being able to recruit a teacher for the remainder of the academic year working in Year 1. Our outstanding team of highly dedicated and hardworking staff are the key to the school's success and reputation, so this is an exciting opportunity for you to come and join us. Please read our latest OFSTED report for more details of our outstanding practice.

We pride ourselves on being a caring and high achieving organisation both for our staff and pupils, prioritising the wellbeing of all. We are seeking to recruit exceptional individuals who can develop nurturing relationships with children as the basis from which they can use their skill and dedication to enable a strong sense of belonging and the highest standards of achievement for their pupils. Adaptability, creativity and positivity are all important components of the role to enthuse and motivate children.

We pride ourselves on being a caring and high achieving organisation both for our pupils and our staff. We are seeking to recruit an exceptional individual who can develop excellent relationships with children and dedicated to enabling the highest standards of achievement for their pupils. You will need to have experience of teaching in KS1, preferably including synthetic phonics/Read Write Inc, and with a passion for play based and outdoor learning. You will need to be flexible and organised, have high expectations for both work and behaviour, be able to work collaboratively with a very supportive team and have a good sense of humour.

The role is in Year 1 working within our dedicated Year 1&2 team of 5 classes. This position would be suited to an experienced teacher or an enthusiastic ECT, for whom we offer regular release time, an experienced mentor and a bespoke training package; in both cases, we are committed to providing support in order to develop you into a highly effective teacher. We offer the successful candidates a fun and friendly team, the pleasure of working with our fantastic pupils and a community committed to supporting and developing all its staff to be the best that they can be.

St. John's is committed to the protection and safety of its pupils. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. As part of our duty to safeguard pupils we will check whether you are barred from working with children, or whether you have convictions that would make you unsuitable to work with children or in the role you've applied for. Please see our application form for further details.

(Salary will be determined at interview based on relevant experience)
