Lab Assistant

The lab services team, operating from laboratories in Hengoed, Wales, United Kingdom, is looking for a dedicated laboratory assistant to join our team. An AB Vista Laboratory Assistant supports the overall running of the laboratory by performing tasks such as:

- Receiving and shipping of laboratory samples, chemicals, and consumables

- Sample and buffer preparation for ELISA and analytical chemistry methods

- Routine checks of laboratory equipment such as balances and pipettes

- Providing assistance for laboratory technicians and analysts

- scanning of animal feedstuffs using Near-infrared spectroscopy

- writing and reviewing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Standard Analytical Methods (SAMs)

Interest in chemistry or agricultural sciences
-Educational background in a field of science or some experience working in a laboratory preferred
-Strong ability to communicate and work well with a team
-High attention to detail with the ability to follow both written and verbal technical instructions
-Ability to multi-task and manage time and priorities wisely
-Previous experience with Microsoft Suite and SharePoint

Physical Requirements
-No allergies to animal feedstuff ingredients (eg. wheat)
-Ability to work on your feet
-Ability to handle at least 5L of liquid (approx. 5kg)
