Laboratory Assistant

Working within a fast paced Food Testing laboratory, the purpose of this role is to maintain a clean hygienic working environment within the Wolverhampton Laboratory, continuous stock control for all working stations for the laboratory to achieve lean goals. This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week - Tuesday to Saturday 10:00 - 18:00.

• Assist the laboratory in stocking up individual work stations which will assist in achieving the optimum production from the laboratory.
• Work aseptically and wear appropriate PPE when in the laboratory.
• Prepare supplement broths, medias and dry pre-poured media ready for use in the laboratory.
• Organisation of stock rooms and help maintain stock rotation.
• Have knowledge of disinfectants and make up daily for in laboratory use.
• Removal of waste from the laboratory throughout the day and maintenance of the hygiene of the internal bins and waste system.
• To be familiar with relevant health and safety legislation and to ensure that all relevant, hazard signs are used when appropriate.
• To carry out any other reasonable tasks as designated by your line manager.
