Full Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Research Assistant / Laboratory Manager to join the lab of Dr Lars Jansen. You will be a central pillar in the function and organization of a highly dynamic, internationalized research team of Postdocs and students. You will assist team members in performing research projects in the area of chromatin and epigenetics in human cell culture. Research projects include elucidating the mechanisms of centromeric chromatin assembly and inheritance and developing methods to determine the contribution of cis-acting chromatin structure and trans-acting transcription factors in the maintenance of long-term memory following cytokine-mediated gene activation. You will also act as a laboratory manager and team manager, which will include ensuring the daily functioning of the research team, ordering supplies and stocking the lab as well as using and maintaining lab equipment. Applicants should hold a Masters degree in the life sciences and have a background in Biochemistry / Molecular Biology or Molecular Genetics. You will have experience in human cell culture, transfection, transduction, single cell isolation and genome editing, as well as having the ability to manage your own research and administrative activities. Excellent communication skills are essential, with the ability to help write text for publication, present data at research group meetings.

This full-time fixed-term post is funded by Wellcome for up to 2 years in the first instance, with a possibility of further extensions.
The actual starting salary offered will be based on qualifications and relevant skills acquired and will also be determined by the funding available.
