Laboratory Support Co-ordinator

Joining our Food Microbiology laboratory, the purpose of this role is to act as the interface between the customer, laboratory, analytical service team and the laboratory; to ensure all key accounts receive the highest level of care. Also, to support the team leader especially when on annual leave.

This is a full time role working Sunday to Thursday 10:00 - 18:00.

• Ensure the laboratory operates within the customer Global standards and complies with all policies, procedures and associated documents.


• Become the key laboratory contact for analytical services when they have technical queries (with support from the laboratory/technical manager).


• To follow up on sample status, reporting and interpretation of results.


• Provide a high level of internal and external customer care.


• To be ultimately responsible for the Micro Wolves mailbox.


• Attend customer reviews to ensure all issues are dealt with swiftly and resolutions are put in place.


• Create customer KPIs to manage service levels. Use this within each daily briefing to ensure that the KPIs are met and understood by the wider laboratory team.


• Ensure that delays/cancellation are communicated to the customer in a timely manner.


• Ensure all retests are processed on-time.


• Work closely across main lab and path lab ensuring there is a very close link with both laboratory managers and registration.


• To complete none conformance work in a timely manner and implement robust corrective actions.


• Ensure the timely and accurate reporting of all results.


• Strive for continues improvement of laboratory processes to improve customer service and quality of results,


• Cover the path lab team leaders., Sustainability matters to us!   Degree or equivalent in microbiology.


• Working knowledge of either Food Microbiology, Testing laboratories accredited to ISO 17025.


• Working experience in a laboratory.


• Experience of working in a UKAS accredited laboratory.


• Good IT skills, word, excel, & LIMS.


• Proven experience of leading a team including training and development of staff.
