Full Job Description

Will demonstrate professional leadership and clinical expertise and foster a culture where all staff can develop their clinical expertise and confidence and feel valued. Act as clinical midwifery lead for each shift and supervise the midwives and other staff within the team ensuring that clinical practice is evidenced based and safe. Will be up to date and be expert in all clinical competencies including trust mandatory training (ESR), obstetric emergencies, perineal suturing, epidural analgesia, water births, intravenous cannulation, adult and neonatal resuscitation, NIPE, mentoring and will be expected to demonstrate, teach, supervise and support other midwives in these skills As the clinical midwifery lead you will be the first point of contact for all medical staff and will take the midwifery lead for obstetric emergencies. Will participate in guideline review and disseminate throughout multidisciplinary setting. Ensures an appropriate skill mix in area of practice and manages staffing
