This is an exciting opportunity for driven and motivated midwives to develop themselves and their skills and become a part of our Labour Ward Coordinators Team based at Darlington Memorial Hospital. You would be based within an Acute setting, across Labour Ward, with responsibility for staff on the Pregnancy Assessment Unit and Postnatal Ward areas on a out of hours basis. We have exciting plans for the development of our Teams in 2024, and invite you to become a part of this!, We are looking for senior midwives who are committed to providing safe shift provision in a busy Labour ward setting, taking responsibility for the coordination of patient care within our departments and acting upon, and escalating concerns in a timely manner. We will take into consideration your skills and knowledge and develop a plan with you to support your transition into your new role. Safety of our women and babies is paramount, and so we are looking for highly skilled, professional and autonomous Midwives to join our Teams.

The post holder will carry shift leader responsibilities when on duty, this will include allocation of workload, skill mix, staffing levels and an overview of the patient numbers and bed availability on the maternity unit. The role will involve actively participating within escalation across the trust during heightened levels of increased activity, liaising directly with colleagues to maintain safety within both units.
