Langworth Ward is an 18 bedded acute assessment ward for older adults experiencing complex BPSD. We are within the Older Persons and Frailty division and have been given the exciting opportunity to include an additional role to the ward.

We are recruiting a Laundry and domestic assistant ,Band 2, to join our team. We want people who are passionate and excited about working with people with dementia, who strive to deliver exceptional standards of care. The ward can be challenging, fast paced, it offers opportunities to support people at a transitional period of their life. We are committed to provide the support and training to ensure that all team members are equipped to work in a safe and supported way.

Main duties of the job

Duties of the job:

To ensure that patient's personal items and clothing are labelled and recorded on the ward property sheet on admission and during their stay.

To launder patients clothing who are admitted on to the ward using equipment provided.

To ensure patient's clothing is aired and that any minor repairs are attended to or reported.

To collect and distribute all laundry, taking special care that patient's clothes are returned correctly.

Loading and unloading of laundry into washing machine and dryers

To keep the laundry and drying areas in a clean and hygienic condition and to report any faulty equipment to housekeeping supervisor. Checking of detergent stock and notifying the housekeeping supervisors when they need ordering.

Distribution of clean linen, towels etc. to the stock cupboard, bathrooms and bedrooms as required.

Supporting with making up of beds as required from the ward. To complete mattress checks and report any damages observed. To support with the stocking of store cupboards when the deliveries are made to the ward from RDC and NHS supply chain.

To support housekeeping staff as required with the ordering of dry goods for the store cupboard.

To support with the ordering and stock control of continence wearables for the ward. To complete environment checks on the ward and report any issues as required.

To support ward staff with keeping the ward environment tidy.
