Full Job Description
We are looking for a Laundry Person to ensure that all clothing, linens, and other washable items are cleaned, sanitised, and maintained to the highest hygiene and quality standard. We are a registered charity operating residential homes and a special school for autistic young people with complex needs. You will train our Housekeepers on the laundry process to ensure cover is possible during absence. You will ensure all equipment is stored and maintained properly, reporting issues to maintenance where required, sourcing parts or replacements online from approved suppliers where items cannot be fixed. Some of the day-to-day responsibilities include:-
- Ensure all laundry has been checked and pre-treated if necessary (e.g., for stains or soiled items).
- Operate washing machines and dryers in accordance with the manufacturer's guidelines and company protocols, ensuring appropriate temperatures, detergent levels, and load sizes are followed.
- To fold all clothes, neatly into laundry bags once dried.
- Monitor stock levels of detergents and other laundry supplies in the storeroom, ensuring that weekly stock takes are completed and submitted to the Housekeeping Manager.
- Complete all required health and safety checks through correct reporting measures
- Adhere to key performance indicators (KPIs) related to laundry productivity and quality standards.
- Work with the Maintenance Team and Housekeeping Manager by raising tickets/emails for issues as they arise.
- Maintaining a safe working environment and awareness of Health & Safety, ensuring COSHH records are up to date and in the correct place.
