Full Job Description

Do you want to be part of a supportive team working on core and innovative products and helping to find legal solutions to support the ambitious growth strategy of the Cash Management & Payments business?, As a qualified lawyer, you'll join the Banking Products Legal team. You'll use your experience to give proactive, pragmatic and solutions-focussed advice and support for the Cash Management & Payments business which provides banking products to businesses of all sizes, supporting across Business & Commercial Banking (BCB) and Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB). The products and services we support include cash management solutions such as accounts/deposits, payment services, liquidity services (pooling and sweeping), digital innovations and the online/digital channels through which products and services are provided to clients.,

  • Provide legal support for product and channel development and innovation, legal and regulatory change projects, rectifications and remediations, industry change initiatives, customer on-boarding and customer journeys;
  • Negotiate; advise on non-standard positions (demonstrating sound commercial judgement) and draft for the same;
  • Advise on the digitisation of products, services, and customer journeys;
  • Advise on and draft terms and conditions for new services;
  • Advise on and draft contracts for tailored products or bespoke terms for customers, based on market standard commercial contract principles;
  • Assist with the development of policy and procedures;
  • Proactively identify, report and support the management of legal and governance risks, recommending solutions when needed;
  • Collaborate with team members and work cross-functionally to help delivery business strategy;
  • Instruct and manage panel law firms and build and maintain positive relationships with external lawyers;
  • Reflect on service delivery and look for continuous improvement activities;
  • Stay on top of regulatory, industry and legal change;
  • Build and maintain a strong stakeholder network to ensure there is a good understanding of business strategy and pipeline; and
  • Identify knowledge gaps and deliver and coordinate training to team and business partners.
  • You'll lead on your own workload and demonstrate dedication to self-development. You'll be encouraged to bring passion, a positive, proactive approach and be team orientated.

  • Qualified as a solicitor in the UK (or equivalent qualification) with significant PQE
  • A good understanding of the legal and regulatory framework applicable to payments and / or commercial contracts experience
  • An ability to build strong, collaborative relationships
  • Confidence in using experience and insights to influence, inform and challenge
  • And any experience of these would be really useful
  • Commercial contracts experience.
  • Knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework applicable to cash management products and commercial customers (Payments Services Regulations, BCOBS, Consumer Duty) will be helpful to this role.
