This is a great opportunity to join a friendly and dedicated team of lawyers involved in a wide variety of legal work and focussed on providing excellent support to both of our councils. As one of our Senior Lawyers, you will have the opportunity to become involved across the legal function, including the supervision of other team members, but with a particular focus on the provision of legal advice and support in town and country planning work., From the start you will receive a warm welcome through an induction which will give you the opportunity to go through your role and responsibilities, terms of employment, learn about some of our key policies and procedures as well as provide you with some practical information to make the transition into your new role as smooth and effective as possible. We recognise that one approach does not fit all so we use a range of operational, developmental and statutory opportunities together with a combination of approaches and techniques to encourage and develop individual learning and growth. Employee Reviews are completed on a regular basis and coaching and mentoring is available to develop individual skills, knowledge and confidence. Stafford Borough Council and Cannock Chase Council operate a shared in-house legal service. The legal service is based at Stafford, but some travel to our Cannock office will be required as and when needed. The post also has the benefit of flexible and hybrid working. We are currently recruiting for a Senior Planning Lawyer and are seeking a suitably experienced lawyer (solicitor, barrister or legal executive) with experience in planning law, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
