Full Job Description

CQC’s Legal Services team is established and dynamic. The work is interesting and often high profile and/or fast paced. As a Lawyer, you will be responsible for providing robust, responsive legal advice, developing strong relationships with colleagues throughout the organisation and with external stakeholders, and using your experience and knowledge to shape legal solutions.
We are looking for 2 lawyers to join the Central Legal Services teams:
Commercial & Procurement Lawyer:
Responsible for supporting CQC on its commercial activities, such as contractual matters, general commercial law and the public procurement regime. This work ranges from advising on all aspects of the public procurement process, as well as governance, drafting, negotiating, formalising and advising on a wide range of contracts, contractual interpretation, intellectual property, trademark protection, data protection, freedom of information, and company law.
Public Law Advisory Lawyer:
Responsibilities include advising on a wide range of cross cutting issues. This work includes the provision of advice relating to policy creation and development, public law, CQC’s general statutory functions, finance, guidance development, and consultation. The team also supports the work of Healthwatch England and the National Guardians Office.

If you would like to help us make a positive impact to health and social care within England, then read on., You will be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or CILEx Fellow with either 2+ years post qualification experience or newly qualified with proven substantial experience providing legal advice in a public law advisory/commercial and procurement setting.
You will have an established history of managing caseloads.
Your key skills will include:
+ Teamwork, and communication to build and maintain relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
+ An eye for detail whilst looking at the bigger picture, the ability to analyse risk and benefit within a fast-paced environment and the ability to reassess priorities on a continual basis.
+ Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, Decision- making and reasoning.
+ Adaptability and ability to advise and present complex legal information clearly and accessibly.
