Full Job Description

The Lead Avionics Modifications Engineer oversees and coordinates avionics modification projects, ensuring timely, budget-compliant, and high-quality completion. They lead a multidisciplinary team, manage resources, and collaborate with buyers and planners for efficient spare planning. The role includes proactive preparation through pre-input meetings and seamless project execution.,

  • Shift Management and Maintenance Oversight: Supervise and manage all maintenance and ground activities during assigned shifts, ensuring timely completion of planned maintenance tasks while optimizing resource allocation and team performance.
  • Airworthiness and Compliance: Oversee airworthiness standards, ensuring adherence to regulations, company procedures, and technical documentation, while maintaining compliance with Health & Safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Lead, manage, and develop a multidisciplinary team, including performance management, career development, and coaching, while ensuring team members are qualified and competent for their assigned tasks.
  • Modification Planning and Execution: Coordinate and execute avionics modifications, including resource allocation, pre-input preparation, spares planning, and compliance with industry standards and internal procedures.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with buyers, planners, and stakeholders to manage project schedules, resources, and customer interactions while ensuring effective handovers and status reporting between shifts.
  • Productivity and Improvement: Drive productivity by meeting cost and performance targets, identifying improvement opportunities, and implementing enhanced processes for maintenance and modification activities.
  • Monitoring and Quality Assurance: Supervise team activities, ensuring work meets airworthiness and quality standards, and maintain accurate documentation of technical records and progress.
  • Project Coordination and Reporting: Maintain updated GEMBA and SQDIP boards, actively participate in meetings, and report on project status, addressing challenges to ensure seamless operations and customer satisfaction

    Minimum Maths and English GCSE Grade C or equivalent preferred, with a recognized apprenticeship or equivalent qualification being essential.
  • Possession of an unrestricted EASA and/or UK CAA B2 Part 66 License and Bombardier type ratings are mandatory; C Cert is desirable.
  • Proven experience in an aircraft base maintenance environment is essential, with prior supervisory or management experience being advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of EASA/CAA airworthiness regulations and compliance with legal and company standards.
  • Knowledge of aircraft maintenance planning, BAS Data Interfaces tools, and advanced PC literacy, including engineering IT systems.
  • Proven ability to provide clear direction, make logical decisions under pressure, and manage team performance, with skills in coaching and motivation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, strong organizational abilities, and a focus on cost control and productivity.
