Job Overview

The role is to manage a team of designers who will help produce designs for engineering projects ranging from 11kV through to 132kV for Contestable works as an ICP and client-side balance of plant works.

This position hybrid with our Design Team based in our Olney Head Office. There may occasionally require a site visit to projects locations around the UK as and where necessary.

Main Duties

  • Taking ownership of a project.

  • Managing a programme of works for the Client, managing all stages. Line manages a dedicated team of Designers on a daily basis.

  • Creating drawings using AutoCAD 2D/3D, Revit & Civils 3D.

  • Resolve technical problems and issues to support the delivery of projects or design objectives.

  • Prepare technical reports for both internal and external purposes.

  • Provide technical administrative support including project advice and design assessments.

  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, to include DNO's/IDNO's and customers.

  • Assisting Project Managers and site teams in understanding the design.

  • Creating Design Risk Assessments.

  • Assisting and mentoring junior or less experienced design engineers in their development.

  • Produce detailed designs from 11kv-132kv in compliance with Industry standards within time and budget.

    Experience with ICP's, IDNO's and DNO's is essential.

  • Experience in managing design projects.

  • Experienced in managing a team of designers.

  • Experienced in the application of technical governance procedures within a consulting engineering environment and know how to apply them.

  • Bachelors or Master's degree in an appropriate subject.

  • Ability to work with project managers to overcome any site issues.

  • Experienced in undertaking project related tasks associated with health, safety, and welfare, e.g. Construction (Design and Management) Regulations.

  • Ability to use Autodesk products and prepare your own drawings.

  • Strong IT and Microsoft skills.

  • Ability to Multitask.

  • Knowledge of ENA/BS/IEC/G81 standards. Some experience with ICP's/DNO's would be desirable.

  • Knowledge of substation design would be advantageous.

  • Knowledge of G81 standards would be useful.

  • Experience in Primary and Secondary Design would be advantageous.

  • Familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud

  • Commercial awareness.

  • Good and Clear Communication skills.

  • A full UK driver's licence.
