Full Job Description

As the Lead Data Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in identifying, analysing, and delivering data science use cases that enhance efficiencies and deliver significant value within The Crown Estate. Working closely with the Director of Data Science, Analysis, and Visualisation, you will drive the strategy that embeds data science and analytics into our decision-making processes. Your expertise will help unlock value by addressing key challenges and opportunities within the organisation through innovative data-driven solutions.,

  • Model Design & Implementation: Develop and deploy models to analyse extensive datasets, solve complex problems, and aid in decision-making.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with teams across the business to pinpoint where data can unlock efficiencies and create value.

  • Project Ownership: Lead analytical and data science projects from inception through deployment, ensuring successful implementation.

  • Engineering Integration: Collaborate with engineering teams to productionise and manage data solutions.

  • AI/ML Opportunities: Identify and exploit opportunities for AI/ML to enhance business processes or discover new potential areas for growth.

  • Advanced Visualisation: Utilise sophisticated visualisation techniques to make data accessible and engaging for end-users.

  • Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as the go-to expert in Data Science, Analysis, and AI within TCE.

  • Mentorship: Share your expertise and mentor colleagues, promoting best practices in Data Science and Analysis.

  • AI/ML Adoption: Guide TCE's journey towards adopting AI/ML technologies, including skills development, technology selection, and policy formation.

  • Governance & Compliance: Ensure adherence to our Analysis and AI principles, policy, and governance frameworks, addressing issues such as bias and data drift.

    Technical Proficiency: Significant experience with data science, analysis, and visualisation tools and techniques.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent ability to convey complex outcomes and concepts to non-technical audiences.

  • Impactful Solutions: Proven track record of delivering impactful data science solutions across various sectors.

  • GIS Expertise: Knowledge of GIS systems and geospatial data representation.

  • Data Management: Skilled in managing and merging complex data sets.

  • AI/ML Experience: Familiarity with scaling AI solutions, including NLP and LLM.

  • Statistical & Machine Learning Knowledge: Proficient in statistical modelling and machine learning principles.

  • Programming Skills: Great SQL and Python capabilities; experience with Databricks is a plus.
