Full Job Description

Lead Electroconvulsive Therapy Nurse, Band 6 Permanent - Part Time - 15. hours per week (Tuesdays & Fridays) The post holder will deputise for and support clinic manager with continuing accountability for the nursing care of patients coming to the clinic and support the management of the ECT service. The Deputy Nursing Team Leader/Clinical Charge Nurse/CommunityPsychiatric Nurse/Practice Development Nurse role is suitable forRegistered Nurses who have successfully completed preceptorship and have registered as an approved NMC mentor. The post holder will deliver, or advise on the delivery of high quality safe nursing care, ensuring consistently high standards of practice and clinical excellence which comply with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) code of professional conduct. Our ECT clinics are held on Tuesdays and Fridays each week.

  • Please read all supporting documents, The post holder will be a member of the Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) core team, working as a lead nurse in the ECT Department at Woodlands Unit, Queen Mary's Hospital, Sidcup and will be responsible to support the ECT manager by providing skilled and timely care patients receiving ECT. This includes providing care to unconscious and recovering patients/service users who have undergone anaesthesia for the purpose of the delivery of ECT.
  • As a Deputy Nursing Team Leader/Clinical Charge Nurse/CommunityPsychiatric Nurse/Practice Development Nurse you will promote anddevelop clinical leadership and clinical practice and be a positive role model to junior members of the team through the practice of evidence-based care. You will be expected to support professional development through clinical appraisal and supervision and contribute to the ongoing educational programme for staff, fostering a positive learning environment. Your professional and personal development will include further postgraduate study and you will be encouraged and supported by your line manager to undertake Master's programmes.
