Full Job Description

The primary aim of the role is to provide assurance that the ETC has processes and procedures that facilitates ongoing plan for consistent compliance with all locally and nationally clinical governance framework standards. The focus of the post is in the domains of incidents, complaints, risk management, education, and training.

The post holder will:

· Lead on monitoring standards of a range of clinical governance, patient safety and patient experience activity, in liaison with other multidisciplinary professionals and functional heads.

· Work closely with the Clinical Director, Clinical Governance Lead, ETC Team and Trust Governance Team to support the ETC improvement plan.

· Maintain strong working relationships with clinical colleagues.

· Ensure the triangulation of information and intelligence from across the Service, the division and the Trust, in order to provide leadership and direction in relation to Quality Governance.

· Work in partnership with the senior surgery and ETC team to assist in driving forward the wider leadership, operational and strategic agendas.

The role will provide oversight of the strategic and operational delivery of all aspects of quality assurance pertinent to the business of clinical governance that is safety centric, as well as demonstrating that good quality governance is understood and practised across all professional groups within the service.

Due to the ongoing risks and need for improvement in ETC, an opportunity has arisen for an internal candidate to support governance. The role will commence with immediate effect, the candidate will be line managed by Sarah Byrne, Associate Director of Clinical Governance. The post holder will have some wider governance responsibilities in relation to the management of the Patient Advice and Liaison Service, the Hospital Assurance Framework and deputising for the Associate Director of Clinical Governance as required.

The candidate will need to have demonstrable experience in complaints/incident and risk management. They will require strong interpersonal skills and resilience to respond to rapid improvement, meeting deadlines and culture change.

Although this position is a 6 months fixed-term contract, the actual contract duration will be adjusted to account for the time taken to advertise the post, complete the hiring process, and finalise pre-employment checks.
