As the Lead FPGA Firmware Design Engineer, you will take a leading position in the development of cutting-edge embedded systems firmware for various electronics used in our power converter systems. You will play a key role in the entire product development life cycle and collaborate as part of a wider multi-disciplinary team. Curious where your designs would be applied?   • Defining requirements and FPGA architectures alongside other hardware and software engineers.
  • Specifying, designing, implementing, optimizing, and documenting FPGA firmware using industry-standard tools and methodologies.
  • Developing and debugging firmware for diverse applications like signal processing, data acquisition, and control systems.
  • Conducting verification and validation testing to ensure your designs meet performance and reliability requirements.
  • Integrating FPGA designs and modules into larger systems and verifying their functionality.
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Applying best engineering standards and developing design practices to ensure FPGA designs comply with relevant health & safety and international standards.

    A relevant degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualifications, or significant experience in an electrical design engineering environment.
  • Strong background in FPGA design, Embedded Software design and programming.
  • Ability to translate high level design requirements into efficient and robust FPGA implementations.
  • Proficiency in VHDL programming languages.
  • Solid understanding of digital design concepts, including Register Transfer Level (RTL) coding, synthesis, and timing closure.
  • Familiarity with FPGA-based development boards and hardware description languages.
  • Ability to design of interface circuits, both analogue and digital circuits including microprocessor, FPGA and memory circuits.
  • Experience with circuit simulation design tools.
  • Meticulous and thorough work ethic with an attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills., Design of SOC (System on Chip) circuits, including some appreciation of configuration and software.
  • Prior experience with high-speed digital design, DSP algorithms, or embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with PCB design tools such as Altium, OrCAD, Mentor Graphics, CAD Star, etc.
  • High speed communications knowledge such as Ethernet, fibre optic and higher speed derivatives thereof.
  • Knowledge of power electronic converter systems and electrical machines.
