We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a candidate to join the college in the role of a Lead HE Quality Manager. The post holder will work closely with the Head of HE to complete a range of management tasks consistent with the role of Lead HE Quality Manager. The post holder will lead on the effective implementation of the College's drive to provide outstanding success for its learners, employers and community stakeholders. The Lead HE Quality Manager will support the implementation of changes arising from new college policy and exercises this responsibility through close working relationship with the Heads of Institute. The postholder will lead the management of college quality assurance arrangements relating to continuous monitoring of subjects, programmes and modules and support the development, validation and modification of programmes. These arrangements include programme validation and modification, periodic review of courses, module evaluation & student feedback, performance analysis at module and programme level. Hull College provides high-quality education & training for Key stage 4, school leavers & adults, offering a wide range of GCSEs, vocational study programmes, Apprenticeships & degrees, and in October 2023 were graded Good with outstanding features rating by Ofsted. Ofsted stated that 'learners and apprentices benefit from high-quality teaching and training' and that 'staff have created a highly inclusive environment in which a diverse group of learners and apprentices learn well together. - Act as a critical friend to college delivery teams to ensure that Quality processes are consistently implemented in meeting college business needs
- Work closely with the Head of HE and other Registry staff to ensure effective governance of Quality and other processes within the college.
- Undertake the preparation of documentation and materials for formal approval by appropriate HE committees
- To attend and contribute to HE deliberative structures according to their terms of reference
- Take responsibility for providing close support and robust challenge for college academic staff in working through College Quality processes, ensuring that college requirements are met in a timely way, developing mutually supportive relationships to support strategic priorities such as and including NSS, MEQ's, OfS metrics etc
- To carry out observations and walkthroughs of learning activity in line with the Quality Assurance and TLA strategy
- To disseminate best practice in terms of Teaching, Learning and Assessment working with the Research and Scholarship Manager.
- To manage risk of the internal quality improvement process ensuring consistency across all aspects of the provision.
- Lead on agreed aspects of the staff development programme for college HE staff on Quality policy and process.
- To support the performance of staff through the development and provision of training materials, resources and activities including workshops and 1-1 coaching.
- Reviews copies of all external examiner reports, monitors their receipt, analyses and chases up issues arising ensuring actions are implemented and evidenced and commends good practice;
- Ensures that quality arrangements with collaborative partners are operating effectively and intervening in a timely manner with college teams where it is not.
- Provide reports to committees as required, to SMT and the Head of HE as requested.
- Undertake and support HE registry panel activity being a member of all as required.
- Support external and internal audit providing reports/evidence as required.
- To take personal responsibility for developing as a manager and enhancing personal knowledge.
GCSE English & Maths Grade C or equivalent - Experience of developing, implementing and managing effective systems, policies and procedures, planning and outcome monitoring Experience in administration preferably in a higher education setting
- Educated to degree level or an equivalent academic or professional qualification
- Ability to develop comprehensive knowledge and understanding of relevant quality assurance regulatory frameworks and requirements, and translate them into practice, providing authoritative and effective advice and guidance to staff and students.
