Lead IT Project Manager

The British Museum is at an exciting phase of its technical development with many older legacy systems currently being updated with new technologies. It is also embarking on its new Masterplan to restore and renovate the Bloomsbury site. This brings many opportunities for development, but also many changes and challenges. We are looking for two Lead Project Managers to help develop the PM function in our IT department and support the Museum's digital and technology transformation. You will play an essential role by managing a team of IT Project Managers, while delivering a range of IT projects.
You will have the chance to collaborate with stakeholders from various departments within the Museum, spanning from Archives to Website Design, and Facilities Management to Collection Care. In addition, you will supervise a diverse team of Project Managers who are leading numerous initiatives, including software replacements and upgrades, infrastructure improvements, digital/AV interventions, and process optimisations. You aim to assist your team in guaranteeing the successful completion of both your projects and theirs.
You are highly organised with the ability to manage several ongoing projects in tandem. You will be able to collaborate with numerous stakeholders to plan and manage resources.
You have demonstrated ability to manage and support junior staff through projects to meet timelines and deliverables.
You have a deep understanding of project management practices, and a drive to improve the function while aligning with Museum governance.
You are experienced at working with conflicting timelines and on multiple concurrent projects to meet deadlines.
You have excellent communications skill, both orally and in writing. You will be able to clearly articulate project deliverables, project plans, and project updates through written reports and oral presentations.
You can establish relationships and work effectively across all levels of the organisation. The ideal candidate will also have experience working across various parts of large organisations and will be capable of working with business end-users and technical colleagues to deliver change.
You ensure projects are delivered to agreed time, budget and quality while managing project risks effectively.
