Full Job Description

The post holder will provide clinical and professional leadership, expert clinical advice and management support ensuring that midwifery care is delivered to a high standard and that the midwifery resource is managed effectively. The post-holder will work with the Directorate Triumvirate, matrons and nursing and neonatal colleagues to continually improve and develop successful clinical services, aligning with the Trust strategic agenda, local, regional and national network agendas.
The post holder will undertake the key functions of the Modern Senior Matron Role, including spending 40 per cent of their time in highly visible clinical leadership, to ensure women's experience in their areas/department is of the highest possible standard at all times with particular emphasis on dignity, compassion and staff wellbeing. The postholder will work collaboratively with the Head of Midwifery to direct midwifery workforce plans for the service, providing managerial support and deputising as required. They will work collaboratively with the Directorate Triumvirate to build on the clinical and business success of the service, extending reputation and capacity to contribute to the corporate success of the Trust.
The successful candidate will provide expert midwifery advice and leadership for the Trust and will undertake relevant projects within and outside the Trust, the networks, representing midwifery for the organisation., + The post holder will act as a senior clinical role model to the senior midwifery team, leading and supporting growth, development and extended roles for the midwifery and support worker teams to allow collaborative working across the service
+ Establish strong relationships with clinical and managerial leaders providing a senior midwifery perspective to ensure that operational delivery is woman centred
· Able to challenge clinical decisions in the best interest of women and their baby using best available evidence
· To translate the midwifery strategy into service objectives for teams being clear about the desired outcomes and holding others to account for delivery
· To provide senior midwifery leadership to staff ensuring systems are in place to measure and monitor the safety, reliability and quality of care
· Contribute to the development and running of services by using evidence and data in relation to current performance and the opportunities for improvement
· Ensure that the midwifery and wider team work efficiently and effectively to maintain performance - through the delivery of key performance targets
· Ensure that all staff within their area of responsibility are able to measure and monitor the quality of care that is delivered to patients
· Lead, develop, and performance manage staff within their area of responsibility
· Engage with and collect data for service improvement targets set by the DMT, We promote the wellbeing and safety of all our patients and carers by acting promptly on concerns, communicating effectively and sharing information appropriately, according to the standards determined by our policy and procedures.
