Full Job Description
As a Monitoring Technical Specialist, you'll be part of the UK IT team, leading and engaging stakeholder relationships and driving quality improvements in application monitoring solutions. You'll share knowledge, cross-train the team, and develop solutions to monitor service performance. As a team lead, you'll be hands-on with technical tasks daily, prioritise and manage workloads and mentor team members. How you'll help us make health happen:
- Develop monitoring services with a deep understanding of application requirements through data flow mapping.
- Ensure high-quality alerts and notifications are configured and delivered promptly.
- Install and maintain core enterprise monitoring systems for maximum availability, resilience, and performance.
- Transition monitoring solutions, upgrades, and new deployments into production and other environments.
- Collaborate with project, development, and operational teams to enhance custom monitoring requirements.
- Develop detailed topology dashboards to aid root cause analysis of performance issues.
- Create and maintain automated event processes for system stability.
- Expose key infrastructure and application metrics for availability and capacity planning.
- Serve as the go-to person for Service Monitoring across platform, application, and development teams.
- Analyse and develop performance management and monitoring tools for business and efficiency benefits.
Extensive experience with service monitoring and observability technologies for both on-premise and cloud platforms. - Proficient in using enterprise monitoring systems like New Relic, Grafana, and Prometheus.
- Skilled in industry-standard network and application performance monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
- Familiarity with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles is a plus.
- Strong background in operating systems infrastructure and application containers, including: Platforms: Azure, AWS Operating Systems: Windows, Linux Applications: .NET, Tomcat/Apache, Java, IIS, JBOSS Scripting Languages: Perl, Shell, Python Databases: Oracle, SQL Server, MongoDB, MySQL
- Expertise in architecting and deploying digital enterprise monitoring solutions across diverse infrastructures.
- Advanced scripting skills.
- Proficient with distributed version control and software configuration management tools.
- Quality-focused, self-starter with strong initiative.
- Continuous self-development and understanding of current and future technologies.
- Innovative thinker with broad knowledge and commercial aptitude.
- Ability to quickly build professional and credible business and IT relationships.
- Strong communication skills.
- Understanding of Infrastructure as Code for automating deployment of monitoring templates.
- Knowledge of ServiceNow integration is a plus.
