Full Job Description
We are seeking to appoint a Lead Nurse for Cancer and Palliative Care.
This role is the strategic lead and expert for cancer and palliative care nursing across South Tees NHSFT
The postholder will provide visible senior professional and clinical leadership, advice, support, and consultancy to other senior clinicians across all professional boundaries and all organisational structures.
On behalf of the Trust the post holder is responsible for representing cancer nursing and Palliative care nursing at local, regional and national level. The post holder will ensure links with the Northern Cancer Alliance, local Integrated Care Boards, Macmillan Cancer Support and other voluntary services. Strong links and collaboration across the system is required to ensure that the needs of the South Tees population are addressed.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will lead on the strategic development of a robust education portfolio to address the needs of the workforce in relation to cancer, palliative and end of life care to ensure a highly skilled, confident and engaged workforce.
Working across community and the acute services the post holder will lead on behalf of the Trust to ensure the strategic development and delivery of the cancer and palliative care agenda.
Leading and participating in audit, research and evaluation the postholder will ensure a continued source of expert nurse consultancy and drive the development of quality services.The overall purpose of this role is to ensure the delivery of evidence-based practice, delivering improvement to patient pathways and ultimately better outcomes for patients. There will be a strong focus on working closely with patients and clinical teams to ensure the provision of quality care. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of care for patients providing professional leadership to cancer and palliative care nurse specialists within the Trust.
On behalf of the Trust the post holder will develop close working relationships with key national and regional committees. There will be an expectation of visible leadership across the Trust and an ability to provide appropriate reports and presentations relevant to the role.
