Full Job Description

The post holder will be an enthusiastic and compassionate Occupational Therapist (OT) who will lead the therapy team and be part of reviewing the ongoing development of Mental Health Rehabilitation services within the Trust., Provide leadership to the Therapy team

-Plan therapy input across the allocated wards

- Contribute to service development

- Provide specialist support, advice and education

- Plan and implement complex individual and/or group evidence-based interventions/programmes of care

The post holder will be responsible for directing and operationally planning the bed based services for the Occupational Therapy Service within Specialist Mental Health in defined service areas, and ensure it is needs led, evidence based and in line with current legislation, values and service principles. They will provide occupational therapy clinical expertise within the locality. They will initiate and lead specific projects and innovation within the multi-professional framework.

They will network with other Allied Health Professionals and service leaders around service development, transformation and good practice, highlighting any quality or safety issues within the service.

The post holder will manage a reduced caseload of mental health service users including those with the most complex needs, where a high level of clinical expertise is required, providing core occupational therapy assessment, interventions and outcome measures that enable individuals to work towards a valued lifestyle and aim for optimum level of functional ability. They will provide expert professional advice which actively informs the teams risk assessments and discharge plans.
